Leaving far from my home country gives me the opportunity to be sometimes on holidays in my home town, and re-discovering the pleasure of being there « here and now » in mindfulness. I want to enjoy every second I’m here because I know it won’t last. I want to meet my friends and share precious moments with them, look at the countryside and really look at it. Today I loved walking in this small and beautiful city of Amboise under the sun, turning at a corner and facing the splendid castle of Amboise,
drinking a coffee besides it, walking in the market and hearing every conversations and feeling « at home ». I was really surprised to see that the market was full of people, although when I left France a few years ago, markets were very empty…
people are going back to marketplaces and that’s wonderful !! And of course, smelling all these nice products,
I loved the precious moments I was having with my friends. Going back to one of my favorite restaurant here called « Zafferano »,
laughing with my friend Jenny, rebuilding the world with my dear neighbours and friends, working on my future kitchen plans with nice and comprehensive artisans. I had a lunch with a friend in a very nice and cosy restaurant here also,
but I felt very sad of the story the owner told us. She has been here for 1 year, and she is suffering from difficulties with the neighborhood and some people around her place. They seem to want her to just go away. The project of a restaurant is very difficult, I think it’s like a « baby » : you think about it everyday before you open it, and then you have to make every time, every minute, your best to make it a nice place where people can meet, and have some good time.
So if you want to encourage this lady, who made a really nice and cosy restaurant where you can find an different offer from the one you can find elsewhere, no industrialized food, no meat, no fish, just home made fresh local food, then run there and don’t forget to book, it’s often full. It’s called Moka and it’s in Saint Avertin near Tours.
I should have told her ahead I was vegan, she could just offer me this simple plate with vegan products and I also had some delicious candied turnips. My friend had a slice of quiche, a piece of salted cake, and 2 different cooked in a large plate.
You can also buy some cosy home decorations, and products like tea or candles.
